450 Gun Owners in Florida Ordered to offer Up Their Weapons

After a touch over four months since Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed the ‘red flag’ law, quite 450 gun owners within the state are ordered to offer up their weapons. Will Democrats Take Away Our Guns?

On March 9, just a couple of weeks after the deadly Parkland Shooting, Gov. Scott signed the danger Protection Order, which allows enforcement authorities and relations to request a writ to limit a private from having access to firearms if they’re deemed to be a danger to themselves or others.
President Joe Biden has urged lawmakers to ban assault-style weapons and is considering executive action to deal with the matter .

“I don’t got to wait another minute, including an hour, to require sense steps which will save lives,” said Biden. “This isn’t and will not be a partisan issue…It’s an American issue which will save lives, American lives. We must act.”

Biden has expressed support for enhanced background check requirements, the repeal of protections for gun manufacturers, a ban on the manufacture and sale of assault weapons, a program to shop for back assault weapons from civilians, and other reforms.

“We can ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines during this country once more ,” he said, referencing the Federal Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004. “It was the law for the longest time…And it brought down these mass killings. we should always roll in the hay again.”

With the Senate split 50-50, Democrats are pushing to finish the filibuster rule in order that they can advance regulation legislation and other objectives with an easy majority vote. Without this alteration , they’re going to need support from a minimum of 10 Republicans to urge a bill to Biden’s desk.

“Senators in Washington have a option to make: save lives or save the filibuster. you can’t do both,” argues Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat who hopes to exchange outgoing Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA).
Republicans aren’t convinced that regulation laws will stop the violence.

“Every time there’s a shooting we play this ridiculous theater where this committee gets together and proposes a bunch of laws that might do nothing to prevent these murders,” argues Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R). “What happens during this committee after every mass shooting is Democrats propose removing guns from law-abiding citizens because that’s their political objective.”

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) compared the difficulty to drunk driving: “I’m not trying to perfectly equate these two, but we’ve tons of drunk drivers in America that kill tons of people…What many people on my side of the aisle try to mention is that the answer isn’t to urge obviate all sober drivers. the solution is to consider the matter .”

Senators will soon vote on House-approved bills to increase the review period for gun purchases and expand background check requirements to incorporate nearly all firearm sales and transfers.
